Skylarkers is
a healthy active aging program in Inala, a suburb of Brisbane, in Queensland, Australia. It is auspiced by Inala Community
House and funded by the Queensland Government Department of Community Services. Our program covers the area covered by the postcode 4077.
One
paid worker, assisted by a team of volunteers, staff the Program. These staff are responsible to the Inala Community House Management Committee and have
a Forum of Participants made up of older people from the local community to advise them.
Volunteers perform various roles to support the program.

Goals:
- To increase the awareness and skill of older people in relation to the
range of lifestyle options available to them.
- To support the development of safer environment s for older
people.
- To decrease the social isolation of older people.
- To assist older people to identify their needs and develop strategies
for meeting them.
- To improve the extent of which current health services promote the health and well-being of older
people by increasing community consultation and sharing of knowledge and skill.

One of the ways we achieve these goals is through assisting older people to set
up activities which they feel will increase their sense of health and well-being.

Skylarkers is staffed by both paid staff and volunteers.
